MemorySwipe is designed around a simple principle: your personal photos should remain private. This Privacy Policy explains what the app accesses, what information may be processed, and the choices available to you.
1. Developer and scope
MemorySwipe is developed and operated by Başak Hicret (“MemorySwipe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Başak Hicret is the developer responsible for the processing described in this policy. This policy applies to the MemorySwipe mobile application, its support website, and related communications. Privacy questions may be sent to support@memoryswipe.app.
2. Photo library access and use
MemorySwipe requests permission to access your photo library only after presenting an explanation in the app. Access is used to create Memory Hunts, show photo previews, organize memories by date, identify screenshots, and let you review selected photos. You may grant full or limited access and may change or revoke permission at any time in your device settings.
Photo contents, filenames, dates, dimensions, and library identifiers are processed locally on your device for these features. MemorySwipe does not upload your photos or photo-library metadata to a server operated by Başak Hicret.
3. Photo deletion and favorites
Swiping left does not immediately delete a photo. It adds the photo to an in-app review list. A photo is deleted from your library only after you review the selection and approve the operating system’s confirmation prompt. Your operating system and cloud-photo provider may retain deleted items in a “Recently Deleted” area according to their own settings.
Favorite and keep decisions are used to provide the app experience and calculate local progress statistics. MemorySwipe currently stores aggregate favorite counts, not a remotely hosted copy of your favorite photos.
4. Information stored locally
The app stores preferences, onboarding status, Hunt history, streaks, XP, achievements, purchase-access state, and aggregate activity statistics locally on your device. This information is used to remember your choices and provide core app features. It is not tied to a MemorySwipe account because MemorySwipe does not currently offer account creation.
5. Purchases and service providers
MemorySwipe uses Apple App Store or Google Play billing and RevenueCat to offer, validate, and restore a one-time purchase. Depending on your platform, these providers may process purchase status, transaction and product information, country or storefront, app-user or device identifiers, and technical diagnostics. They process information under their own terms and privacy policies. MemorySwipe does not receive or store your full payment-card details, and photo contents are not intentionally provided to these purchase providers.
6. What we do not do
MemorySwipe does not sell or rent personal information. We do not use your photos for advertising, profiling, facial recognition, or artificial-intelligence model training. The current version does not include third-party advertising or behavioral analytics. Apart from information processed by the stores and RevenueCat to provide purchases, MemorySwipe does not currently operate a backend that collects your photo library, local Hunt history, or progress.
7. Support communications
If you contact us, we receive the email address you use, your message, and any device, app-version, screenshot, or diagnostic information you voluntarily include. We use this information only to answer the request, troubleshoot the issue, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and is then deleted or anonymized, unless longer retention is legally required.
8. Retention and deletion
Local preferences and progress remain on your device until you reset local data through MemorySwipe’s Data & Privacy settings, clear the app’s storage where supported, or remove the app. Resetting app data does not delete photos from your photo library. Photos you deliberately delete are handled by your device and photo provider.
Purchase records and related identifiers may be retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat according to their policies and legal, fraud-prevention, tax, and accounting obligations. Because MemorySwipe does not currently create user accounts or maintain a user database, there is no MemorySwipe account to delete.
9. Privacy choices and data deletion
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, local photo access is performed at your request and with the permission you grant through your device. Purchase processing is necessary to perform the transaction you request and to restore access. You can revoke photo permission, limit selected photos, reset local progress, decline a purchase, or stop using the app at any time.
Photo permission: Use your iOS or Android system settings to grant full or limited photo access, change the selected photos, or revoke access entirely.
Local MemorySwipe data: Open Profile → Data & Privacy → Reset MemorySwipe Progress to remove locally stored XP, streaks, achievements, Hunt history, onboarding state, and preferences. This does not delete photos from your library.
Support information: To request access, correction, or deletion of information you previously sent to support, email support@memoryswipe.app with the subject “MemorySwipe Privacy Request.”
No account to delete: MemorySwipe currently has no sign-up or login feature and does not maintain a remote user database, so there is no MemorySwipe account to delete. If accounts are introduced later, an in-app and web deletion method will be provided before launch.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights concerning personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or complaint to a data-protection authority.
10. International processing
Apple, Google, and RevenueCat may process purchase-related information in countries other than your own. Their privacy notices explain their locations, safeguards, and transfer practices.
11. Children
MemorySwipe is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Security
MemorySwipe is designed to minimize collection and data transfer. Access to photos is controlled by your operating system, and deletion requires system confirmation. No method of storage or processing is completely secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the limited information we handle.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when MemorySwipe, its providers, or applicable requirements change. We will publish the updated policy here and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated within the app where appropriate.
